Issue certificates from Viktor
Viktor is the AI employee that works in Slack and Microsoft Teams and connects to thousands of tools. Add the IssueBadge MCP server as a custom integration and Viktor can issue verifiable certificates and badges, return verification links, run recurring issuing tasks, and manage dynamic QR codes.
- Custom MCP server: paste one URL, sign in once, nine IssueBadge tools appear
- Works where your team is: Slack, Microsoft Teams, web chat or Viktor's public API
- Recurring tasks: weekly attendance or completion certificates with duplicate protection
- Permission levels per tool on the Tools tab, and an installable IssueBadge skill from the Viktor Skills Marketplace
@Viktor issue the Workshop certificate to this week's attendees
#training · Slack
✓ Viktor confirmed the template, issued one certificate per attendee with an idempotency key each, and replied with the links.
What Viktor can do with IssueBadge
Everything the IssueBadge API offers, asked for in plain language from the channel where the work already happens.
Training and onboarding
"@Viktor issue the Onboarding Complete certificate to everyone who finished the checklist this week." Viktor takes names and emails from your HR tool or sheet and issues them.
Events and meetings
After a Teams or Zoom session, Viktor turns the attendee list into attendance certificates and posts the verification links.
Recognition
"Give Sam Lee the Employee of the Month badge." Viktor confirms, issues, and shares the public verification page.
Connect IssueBadge to Viktor in 5 steps
Only a Viktor workspace admin can add integrations. You need an IssueBadge account with at least one template.
Add a custom MCP server
In Viktor, open Integrations, select Add Custom, choose MCP Server and select Next. Viktor only accepts remote servers over HTTPS; the IssueBadge server is hosted, so nothing runs on your machine.
Enter the server URL
Paste the endpoint and select Connect. Make sure it is the MCP endpoint, not a website or an OAuth URL; Viktor warns when the URL does not contain "mcp".
https://issuebadge-mcp.issuebadge.workers.dev/mcp
Name it and choose who can use it
Enter the nickname IssueBadge. In Slack and Microsoft Teams workspaces, choose who can use the connection. Integrations are shared across the team, so one setup serves everyone you allow.
Sign in to IssueBadge
Viktor detects how the server authenticates. The IssueBadge server runs its own sign-in (OAuth 2.1), so a browser page asks you to sign in to IssueBadge and approve the read and write scopes. No API key is pasted anywhere.
Prefer the REST API with a key instead? Use Add Custom, API: name IssueBadge, base URL https://app.issuebadge.com/api/v1, methods GET, POST, PATCH and DELETE, authentication Bearer token, documentation URL https://issuebadge.com/h/developer. Or ask Viktor in chat to set it up; it sends a private Connect link that expires after 24 hours.
Ask Viktor
In Slack, Teams or web chat: "Which certificate templates do I have?" then "Issue the Certificate of Completion to Jane Doe, jane.doe@example.com". Viktor lists your templates, issues the certificate and replies with the public verification link. Nine tools arrive: validate_key, get_all_badges, issue_badge, and six dynamic QR code tools (create_qr_code, list_qr_codes, get_qr_code, update_qr_code, get_qr_code_scans, delete_qr_code).
On the account's Tools tab you can set a permission level per tool, for example require confirmation for issue_badge and delete_qr_code.
How to use it well
Viktor plans and runs multi-step work, so give it the recipient source, the template name, and the rule for duplicates.
Prompts that work
- "List my IssueBadge templates"
- "Issue the Certificate of Appreciation to Jane Doe, jane.doe@example.com, expiring in two years"
- "Every Friday at 5 pm, issue the Workshop Attendance certificate to everyone added to the Attendance sheet this week, then post the links in #training"
- "Create a dynamic QR code for the registration page; when the page moves, update it"
Install the IssueBadge skill
A ready-made skill teaches Viktor the full workflow: confirm the template and recipient, use an idempotency key per person, never invent details, and return the verification link. Install it from the Viktor Skills Marketplace (search for IssueBadge), or upload the folder from github.com/issuebadge2026/issuebadge-skills under Skills, Upload skill. Run it in web chat with /issuebadge.
Recurring tasks
Viktor can run the issuing step as a scheduled task. Keep the duplicate rule in the brief: one issue_badge call per recipient with an idempotency key such as template id plus email plus date. A rerun then returns the existing certificate instead of issuing a second one, so the task is safe to repeat.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an IssueBadge API key for Viktor?
No. Add the MCP server by URL and Viktor opens the IssueBadge sign-in. The REST API with a bearer key is the alternative under Add Custom, API.
Who can add the integration?
A Viktor workspace admin. Once added, the admin chooses which Slack or Teams members may use it, and sets permission levels per tool on the Tools tab.
Does the IssueBadge skill need to be installed?
No, the tools work without it. The skill adds the workflow rules (confirm recipient, idempotency keys, no invented data) so Viktor behaves consistently across the team.
Will a rerun issue duplicate certificates?
Not when Viktor sends an idempotency key per recipient. The API returns the existing credential for a repeated key instead of issuing again.
Is anything stored on the MCP server?
No. It forwards each call with your token to app.issuebadge.com and keeps nothing. Removing the integration in Viktor ends access.
Can Viktor download the certificate PDF?
Through the REST API, yes: POST /api/v1/certificate/generate returns the PDF. Over MCP the tools return the public verification link, which also offers the PDF.
