Set up IssueBadge for Zoho CRM in 3 steps
Takes about five minutes. You need a Zoho CRM administrator account and an IssueBadge account (the free plan works).
Install the extension
In Zoho CRM go to Setup → Marketplace → All, search for IssueBadge for Zoho CRM and click Install. Accept the terms and choose which user profiles get the extension. The extension reads contacts, leads and deals, adds notes and updates four fields on leads; nothing else.
Enter your API key and default badge ID
Right after installing, Zoho shows the extension configuration page with two fields. You can change them later under Setup → Developer Space → Variables, group issuebadgeforzohocrm0.
IssueBadge API Key (required)
Sign in at app.issuebadge.com, open Developer in the left menu and click View API Key. Copy the key and paste it into this field. Only the account owner or a company admin can see the key.
IssueBadge Default Badge ID (optional)
The badge (certificate template) that is pre-selected in the Send Certificate popup. Users can still pick a different badge each time. Leave it empty to start with no selection.
Where to find the ID, either way works:
- On the same Developer page in IssueBadge, the Your Badges table lists every badge with its Badge ID. Copy the ID of the badge you want.
- Or, after installing, open Setup → Marketplace → All → IssueBadge for Zoho CRM → Settings in Zoho CRM and click Test connection & load badges. The table shows each badge with its ID.
Send a certificate from a record
Open any contact, lead or deal and click Send Certificate at the top of the record. The popup shows your badges with the default pre-selected, and the recipient's name and email taken from the record. Check them, change anything you need and click Send Certificate.
IssueBadge issues the certificate, emails it to the recipient and returns the public link. The extension adds a note with the link to the record. On leads it also fills Badge Name, Badge Sent, Badge Sent On and Certificate URL.

Frequently asked questions
Which Zoho CRM edition do I need?
Marketplace extensions are available on Standard, Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate editions. Installing needs an administrator profile.
Where do I get the IssueBadge API key?
Sign in at app.issuebadge.com, open Developer in the left menu and click View API Key. If you do not see the Developer entry, ask your IssueBadge account owner or company admin, as only those roles can view the key.
Where do I get the Badge ID?
On the IssueBadge Developer page the Your Badges table shows each badge with its Badge ID. The extension's Settings page in Zoho CRM (Setup → Marketplace → All → IssueBadge for Zoho CRM → Settings) shows the same list after you click Test connection & load badges.
Is the default badge ID required?
No. Without it the Send Certificate popup opens with no badge selected and the user picks one from the dropdown. If you only have one badge, it is selected automatically.
Where does the recipient's email come from?
From the Email field of the contact or lead. For a deal, the extension uses the contact linked to the deal. You can edit the name and email in the popup before sending.
What is written back to Zoho CRM?
A note titled "IssueBadge certificate issued" with the recipient, issue ID and public link is added to the record. On leads, the fields Badge Name, Badge Sent, Badge Sent On and Certificate URL are also filled in.
How do I change the API key or default badge later?
In Zoho CRM go to Setup → Developer Space → Variables, open the group issuebadgeforzohocrm0, click the pencil next to the variable, change the value and save.
Is my API key sent to the browser?
The key is stored as a Zoho CRM variable in your own account. Calls to IssueBadge go through Zoho's server-side proxy, and the Settings page only shows the first characters of the key.
